Why not join us ?

We continue our practice season from January to May!

Why not start a new hobby and make new friends? Sticks and hankies are provided.

Beginners and experienced dancers and musicians are all welcome - just come along.

You can find us at the Scout Hall in Pinkneys Green SL6 6NU

Who are we?  We are Ellington Morris - a traditional Morris Dance team based in Maidenhead, Berkshire, UK - one of the few mixed Cotswold Morris teams in the area.

Ellington is the original name for Maidenhead in the Domesday Book.

What do we do?

We perform Morris dances collected early this century from Cotswold villages such as Adderbury, Bledington and Bampton, and Lichfield in Staffordshire plus dances from our own Ellington tradition and a few Border Morris dances.

We dance throughout the summer from May 1st, on Wednesday evenings at village pubs around East Berkshire, and at weekends at fairs, fetes, carnivals and other local celebrations.

We run an Introductory Workshop in the Scout Hall at Pinkneys Green in September/October (see our programme).

We practice from October to end of April, also in the Scout Hall at Pinkneys Green on Wednesdays (see our programme).

We perform a Mummers Play each Boxing Day - a hero combat play representing death and rebirth, drawn from a centuries-old tradition.

We have also been known to wassail marrows and apples.

We collect money during the season for Maidenhead Mencap as our chosen charity.
